Almost everyday we look at one of the primary reasons why relationships are so complicated.
A mirror! A mirror gives off a reflection of you! That’s right, you are one of the primary reasons why relationships are so complicated. People’s inability to get out of the way and surrender the relationship process to God complicates things.
I’ll prove it! Think back to some of your choices concerning relationships, or what you thought was a good choice at the time. What has that gotten you: heartaches, frustrations, or regrets? Remember when you just had to have him, or when you just knew she was the one. There were signs; maybe people trying to warn you, but you had your mind made up.
Our inability to trust God, and take our hands out of it, complicates life. We say that we trust God, but do we really?
In Genesis we see a love story of Isaac and Rebekah, but theirs one caveat to this love story; it was arranged. Isaac didn’t choose his wife, his Dad did. Rebekah had never met Isaac until they got married. Can you imagine what you would do if your Dad came to you and said I have the perfect person for you; marry them today. Would you? Most likely you would not. Why, because you weren’t in control, because you have your wants, your dreams, your list.
What does this have to do with the relationship process? Everything! People pray and seek God asking, and even pleading with God to bring them that perfect person. But if Jesus Himself showed up today with that person, and said marry them today. Would you? You would have anxieties, and would probably lose your mind. Not because they weren’t a good match, but because you weren’t in control, and they didn’t meet everything on your list.
Think about that!
What does that say about our trust in God? Is our seeking God just for show? Trusting God is more than just words! If you want to simplify your relationship learn to get out of the way and truly trust God.
